I'm Just Not His Type

Have you ever wondered what you will be saying or doing or wearing the day you meet someone who will change your life forever? How do you even recognize such a person?

See, there’s this guy in her writing class that turned her head at first. Football player build, easy manner, very intelligent. The moment he opened his mouth to speak though, she immediately placed him in the “not-my-type” box. Why, you ask?

Because she saw herself through his eyes.

The thing is, she has her own mind and she likes to show it. Example(s):    

·         She wears her hair in its natural state. People stare sometimes, but she’s okay with that. 

•        She’s a color freak. Rarely does she walk out of the house with less than three different colors on.

·             She experiments with accessories. Fingernail polish, colorful scarves, head wraps, you name it, she’ll try it! Her earrings also tend to be huge and dangly.

So when Mr. Good-Lookin’ gave her the eye, she immediately looked away and felt self-conscious. Don’t be silly girl, he’s not looking at you! He probably thinks you’re one of those tree-hugging Erykah Badu-chicks. You know you’re not his type.

But why does she think that? Why does she have a picture in her head of the type of guy that would be attracted to her? If she’s really as self-confident as she says she is, why would she rule herself out?

After doing some thinking, she has decided it’s high time she stopped limiting herself myself.
